MakeUp Review : Have you met Gienah?

28 May 2014

Hey there! Thank you for stopping by!

Today I'll be reviewing a Contour Blush from Nars. I don't usually contour on a daily basis . Probably only do it when there's an event or a function to attend. But in this post I would like to show you how easy it is to contour!

There are different kinds of Contour Blush that you can use to contour, for example, Liquid, Cream or powder. Which ever it is, it definitely makes a difference. Models get their sunken cheeks heighten because of the way make up artists play with highlights by contouring. Hence, photographers take advantage of this during shoots. It is most popular with celebrities. We see celebs like Kim Kardashian whom make up artists use as an inspiration. With various contouring palettes available and the right technique, you'll be looking all pretty in no time!Nars has three palettes, Olympia, Paloma and Gienah. Olympia is suitable for fair skin, Paloma; medium and Gienah would be a tan to dark skin tone. When contouring, don't worry if it's too dark cuz you can always blend it out!

The Nars Contour Blush comes in a duo of contouring blush shades to create natural-looking dimension for the face with a lightweight luminous finish. The darker shade enhances definition while the lighter shade illuminates the high points of your face.

Here you go, meet Gienah. She's the darkest shade among the rest. :D
This shade suits my tan skin. What I like about this is that I do not have to do much layering because the shade a darker than my skin tone.

The purpose of contouring is to enhance yet slim down your face structure making it more defined.
Conturing is pretty easy. Here's some steps that I myself follow!

Step 1:

When you're ready to start with your make up, don't forget to start with a primer.
Prime your face so that the make up stays on longer.

Step 2:

Apply foundation and conceal dark spots and dark circles.

Step 3:

Star contouring my marking areas on your face to guide you. Mark the hollows under your cheekbones, your temples, along your hairline, jawline, the sides of your nose, the tip of the nose, and the crease of your eyes

Step 4:

Next, use an all-over cream highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones, on the center of your forehead, the bridge of your nose, the center of your chin, and on your cupids bow. Blend it in accordingly and that's it!

The pic below is of me before and after contouring using the Nars Contour Blush in Gienah. What do you think?

So, here is another before and after picture from the front. It's not that visible in these pics but did you notice how my face looks like properly and evenly shaped! Another before and after shot :)

If you're not used to it, take a look at this video, I love GossMakeUp because his tutorials are very easy to follow.
